Headshot for Donna Burke

Donna Burke

Donna is accepting new clients virtually and in-person in College Park, MD.

Donna believes in the power of the embodied love of Jesus Christ in the context of a safe and empathic relationship to bring about transformation in individual lives and relationships. She has been doing informal counseling and ministry to women since 2014, and counseling on staff with Heart Song since 2018. During these years, she has found tremendous joy watching teens and women find healing from hurt, hope in suffering, purpose in their story, and greater personal wholeness through counseling.

Donna brings extensive experience to each counseling session; she received her B.A. from George Washington University and later received her M.A. in Biblical Counseling from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and she has a passion for on-going training to grow as a counselor.

Having experienced chronic physical suffering herself, she is passionate about entering into the suffering of others with compassion, while also holding onto a confidence of Christ’s nearness and goodness in pain. She takes a holistic, empathetic approach and strives to build a relationship of trust and openness with each client, ask thoughtful questions that promote self-discovery and growth, and present an en-fleshed personal example of the patience and tenderness of Jesus.

She works with women dealing with all kinds of challenges, but has has experience and special interest in serving those dealing with abuse, trauma, church hurt, spiritual abuse, and questioning or deconstructing faith, as well as issues including depression, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, anxiety, loss, chronic illness, singleness, and relational difficulties.

She lives with her husband and three children just outside DC in PG County.
