Our Creator
Speaks

Biblical Counseling is built upon a simple principle that our Creator has spoken to our current life situation and to all of its problems through the Scriptures. We do not look at the Bible as another best selling self-help book that will bring happiness, but we view it as helping us develop a real and vibrant relationship with our Creator through Jesus Christ. Within the context of this relationship is where change takes place….

Our approach will move us beneath the themes of our lives and into the heart issues that so often cloud our vision and bring about responses to life that are broken and hopeless. In inviting Christ into a dialogue about our heart we will begin to see deep lasting change brought about by the God who considers us His beloved children.

This does not mean that you must be a Christian to profit from our counseling, though it is our hope that all who comes to Heart Song for counseling will take a serious look at the idea of change taking place in the context of a relationship with Christ.

Two articles that will be helpful in understanding Biblical Counseling more deeply are, “What is Biblical Counseling” by Ed Welch and “Vanity Fair” by David Powlison.

Scheduling Your First Appointments

Once you contact Heart Song you can expect to begin counseling sessions that will be based upon a biblical and pastoral relationship with your counselor. By sending a quick email or in a phone conversation we can make some decisions together about logistics. Most clients meet for 90 minute sessions, some every week while others meet every other week. There is no set amount of sessions that we recommend for our clients, as every person and situation is different and requires unique care and timing. Though it is our hope that counseling will be short term and not something that extends far into life. Our sessions take place at a variety of locations, and we will try to choose one that is most convenient for you.

Payment
Information

Fees

We are able to provide a range of fees for our face-to-face services that are based on the experience and credentials of your counselor. Our fees are based on a full 60 or 90 minute session.

Payment

Payment, due at each session, is taken through Square using your debit or credit card.

Financial Support

If the price of counseling is significantly beyond your budget, we encourage you to contact your pastor, the head of your diaconate, or the person in charge of mercy ministry at your church to see if funding is available to help cover the cost (it usually is).

Insurance

Heart Song Counseling does not bill insurance, however counseling may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance or employee benefit plan. Our counselors are able to provide you with a receipt for each session so that you can submit to your provider.  Payment is due at the time of service.

Please check your coverage carefully by asking the following questions:

  1. Do I have mental health insurance benefits?
  2. Do I have marriage and family counseling insurance benefits?
  3. Does my insurance cover services for an “out of network” provider?
  4. What is my deductible and has it been met?
  5. How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?
  6. What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
  7. Does my insurance require a licensed counselor?
  8. Is approval required from my primary care physician?
