Cynthia Chen

Cynthia’s counseling practice is founded on the belief that God’s presence and power offer hope for healing and change. She believes that God’s love provides a space for individuals to explore their personal stories and consider what God is doing in their lives. Her areas of interest include women’s issues, parenting, missionary care and grief.

With over 15 years of experience, Cynthia has worked as a counselor at a women’s shelter in Birmingham, Alabama, trained lay counselors in Beijing, and now provides individual counseling virtually and in-person in the Washington, D.C. area.

Cynthia earned her B.A. in History from the University of Pennsylvania and her M.A. in Counseling from Westminster Theological Seminary. She lives in Maryland with her husband and two children who are emerging young adults. She enjoys facilitating retreats and walking with friends and with her dog, Millie.
